The Fall Wedding Tale of Autum + Garrett
The countryside outside Columbus, Ohio is magical, especially when holding a fall wedding. This is one of the many reasons Autum and Garrett celebrated their happy union as husband and wife here at 22 Acres Farm last October. Our barn and surrounding fields made the perfect setting for this fall wedding—complete with seasonal colors, cowgirl boots, and flannel shirts.
How It Began
Autum and Garrett’s love story began in 2016, shortly after they each joined the Air National Guard. During Autum’s first training weekend, she could not help but notice Garrett and his amazing smile—even from the back of the room. Although he had made quite the impression, a few years passed before their paths would cross again. They met through friends and hit it off. Before they knew it, they were dating.
“Garrett and I started messaging, and that turned into texting every single day while he was away on his deployment. That turned into packages and gifts being sent to each other and then eventually turned into our first kiss when he returned home.”
The Proposal
From deployments to embraces, game nights to family meetings, and fur babies to vacations–spending their life together became clearer until the day they faced the possibility of losing each other for good during a snowstorm. Garrett proposed less than eight hours after that thought and hasn’t looked back. Creating a future together just made sense, and the couple could not wait to celebrate their special day.
“This man never fails to make light of any situation thrown at him, and he never ever fails to surprise me. Our story has been full of happiness and adversity, but it brought us this far. We cannot wait to see what else [life] brings to us.”
Planning a Fall Wedding
Fall was the perfect season for Autum and Garrett. For decor, the couple went with simple greenery, fall colors, and some selections from our Something Borrowed Room—all which came together beautifully.
Our Bridal Suite and Groom’s Room proved to be the perfect space for the couples and their loved ones to get ready—and enjoy a little pre-wedding fun.
The Ceremony
While we love the traditional, it is always fun to see couples incorporate what is important to them on their special day. Before tying the knot, Autum and Garrett joined in family prayer—which provided a sweet moment for all to embrace.
Autum and Garrett loved the many ceremony options that 22 Acres Farm offers, and our beautiful barnyard area was the perfect setting to say, “I Do!”
Autum and Garrett also avoided having “sides” at their wedding, having all who came to celebrate their special day do so together.
But our favorite “non-traditional” part of Autum and Garrett’s wedding was the flower man! He brought such joy and an element of laughter to their wedding that connected all the guests together.
After the ceremony, the wedding party joined family and friends in our beautiful Barn space to celebrate into the night! From first dances to dancing with friends and family, this was a celebration for all to enjoy.
Great Point Kitchen & Events took care of food and drinks—complete with a cocktail hour for those in attendance. O“cake”sions handled all the sweets and treats, with a beautiful wedding cake for the happy couple to enjoy.
Nothing makes our team happier than celebrating such an important part in the lives of our couples, and helping make their dreams come true. Autum and Garrett were a joy to work with, and we are so happy they chose 22 Acres Farm for their special day. Wishing you both many years of happiness!
